Your donation can help us to save lives and stop economic abuse forever
One in seven women in the UK has experienced economic abuse by a current or former partner in the past 12 months. The effects can last a lifetime, and without support some women can never break free of the abuser’s control.
They can be left with large amounts of debt, or without access to money or a home. Many are trapped with abusive partners and experience other forms of abuse. Some feel they have no choice but to take their own lives.
Why give to Surviving Economic Abuse?
Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA) is the only UK charity dedicated to raising awareness of economic abuse and transforming responses to it.
With your support, we can create change for victim-survivors that can be life-changing and sometimes life-saving.
We pioneer new approaches to supporting survivors such as the Financial Support Line, run by our frontline partner Money Advice Plus, which offers regulated financial advice specifically for victim-survivors of domestic abuse.
We work with financial services, domestic abuse services and other frontline organisations to increase understanding of economic abuse so that every victim-survivor receives the right response the first time they seek help.
We influence national laws and policies to better reflect the needs of victim-survivors, and work with industry to improve practice.

Where does your money go?
We depend on charitable donations for all areas of our work. Without them, SEA wouldn’t exist.
For every £1 donated to SEA:
- 90p is spent on creating change for victim-survivors
- 10p is spent on raising further funds
Last year, your support helped us:
- reach almost 58,500 victim-survivors through our website, Survivor Forum, frontline partnerships, and direct work alongside experts by experience
- secure, alongside Women’s Aid, a £300,000 emergency fund to help survivors flee in a time of financial crisis
- train 840 professionals from 165 organisations to recognise and responds to economic abuse
- achieve £1.6million in financial gains for victim-survivors via the Financial Support Line and casework service run by our frontline partner Money Advice Plus.
