The College of Policing has today announced a new domestic abuse risk assessment tool to be piloted across 5 forces to ensure coercive and controlling behaviour is easier for officers to identify.
SEA director, Nicola Sharp-Jeffs, who is referenced within the evaluation report as an expert on financial abuse says: “The new risk assessment tool is helpful as a starting point in that it takes the position that these behaviours are present and therefore gets the officers on the ground to think about coercive control. At the same time tools are no substitute for professional judgement and police will need good training in this area.”
