Introducing two new Trustees

Surviving Economic Abuse is delighted to announce the appointment of two new Trustees to its Board. As the charity grows in staff team and ambition, so too has the talent that steers it.

Cathy Mills (joining as Chair) is an HR professional who has held Director roles in UK & international organisations leading significant multi-channel and multi-market transformational change programmes. Now running her own business as an independent consultant, she focuses on strategic HR, executive coaching and training.

Cathy says, “I am delighted to be supporting Nicola and the team in the tremendous work they are doing. Surviving Economic Abuse is leading the way in addressing economic abuse, an issue that affects so many women. It’s fantastic to see the real change that the charity is making for individuals, across organisations and in informing policy on how to understand this issue.”

Sue Lewis meanwhile spent most of her career as a senior civil servant, advising government ministers on policy issues including financial services and gender equality. Since leaving the Treasury in 2011, Sue has held a number of Board and advisory roles. She currently chairs the Financial Services Consumer Panel; and is a Trustee of the People’s Pension and StepChange debt charity. Sue sits as a consumer representative on several financial services industry bodies and also advises overseas clients on financial education, financial inclusion and consumer protection regulation.

Sue adds, “I am delighted to be joining this dynamic young charity at such an exciting time. The charity has already achieved so much in such a short space of time and I can’t wait to see how it evolves.”

SEA director, Nicola Sharp-Jeffs concludes: “We’re really excited to have two new members join our Board. The skills that Cathy and Sue will bring from their experience of working within HR and consumer finance will contribute hugely to our work.”
