Are you passionate about driving systemic change to save lives and stop economic abuse forever? Do you have the expertise, perspective and commitment to help shape the governance of a high-performing board?
As Surviving Economic Abuse approaches its tenth anniversary, we are looking for up to four new trustees to grow and strengthen our board as we grow our influence and impact.
Trustees of Surviving Economic Abuse
Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA) is the only UK charity dedicated to raising awareness of economic abuse and transforming responses to it. In under a decade, we have secured the recognition of economic abuse and post-separation abuse in law, shifted public understanding so that half the UK population now knows what economic abuse is, and placed tackling it at the heart of government Violence Against Women and Girls and Financial Inclusion strategies.
As we approach our tenth anniversary, we are recruiting up to four new trustees. It is an exciting time to join the organisation and help drive our mission forward.
Trustees share collective responsibility for the governance of SEA alongside the rest of the board. Together, the board sets strategic direction, oversees the executive team and ensures that SEA operates with sound financial management, strong governance and clear accountability. You will offer supportive challenge and practical insight on the issues the organisation faces, holding the executive to account while trusting the CEO and her team to manage the work.
We are looking for people who bring a genuine commitment to SEA’s mission, an understanding of the cause and expertise in one or more of the areas set out in the recruitment pack. You do not need to have served on a board before. What matters most is your commitment to our mission and your willingness to contribute your time, insight and judgement.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and identities. We particularly encourage applications from racially minoritised people, disabled people and those from working-class backgrounds.
The time commitment is approximately one-and-a-half hours a week. The role is voluntary; reasonable expenses are covered.
